A Field Redux for Video

A Revelation Field from Tobin Johnston on Vimeo.

A Field Redux for Video

untie the ribbons           that hold up this sky

cut the ropes

that       tether      us

leave this city

its pop-up book

panorama

the flattened

silhouettes        of    silhouettes

cross walks, car horn curses, daps and pounds, stoops and stairwells

DON’T STEP

rather,

throw yourself from the curb

let your

body

cast a shadow

and then fall into it

leave here

leave these streets

walk instead out into a vacant field

take only with you a fallen branch

the size of your hand

at a place of your choosing

force it into the ground

wait. . .  wait there

for the wind to knock it over

then bury it in the earth,

digging against the dirt with your bare hands

trust the grass to overgrow the turned-over earth

and walk       away

weeping

the stick is history

you are

God
